“Basic” Prime Rib Baking Instructions
Below are a few simple guidelines to use when baking your bone-in Prime Rib Roast.
**Something to note: There are MANY instructions available online too!**
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place roast bone side down on a roasting rack or low sided roasting pan to catch juices.
Roast in oven until your meat thermometer reads five degrees BELOW desired doneness; (140 degrees for medium rare, 155 degrees for medium).
Allow roast to stand for approximately 20 – 30 minutes before slicing. During this standing time, the temperature will continue to rise and will reach the desired doneness.
General rule of thumb: cooking time should be based on approximately 15 minutes per pound. Remember, all ovens bake differently! It is VERY important to use a good meat thermometer to check for desired doneness.
